A Year In Review | 2012
Another year gone by and, boy, was it an important one for me, my business, and my family! Making the decision to leave my teaching career and embrace photography full-time was one of the scariest, riskiest, and BEST decisions we (my husband and I) ever made. We took the leap of faith and we couldn't be happier! Not only am I doing what I love but I get to work from home and spend more time with my little boy to boot.
When the full time load began back in June, the artistic/creative side of me was naturally overjoyed to be doing more of what I love, but the business side of it had me waking with a knot in my stomach every morning. The challenges of being a full time small business owner (no disability, no paid sick days, self-emplyment tax...say what?!?) have forced me to learn more and manage more than I ever thought my "creative brain" could handle. While I may never leap out of bed with excitement on my "Friday bookkeeping" days (hey, we all have our limits!), once I realized I am not only a photographer but also a business woman, I actually began to quite enjoy the whole running the business side of things and to even feel empowered by it.
All in all, it has been a wonderful year filled with documenting many memories for returning clients, new clients, family, and friends and I am so grateful for the encouragement and support that I receive from every one of you.
Sorting through the hundreds of photos (thousands if you count my personal photos, so I just stuck to client sessions) from 2012 and narrowing it down to a handful of my favorites was not an easy task. I love all of my sessions and all of my shots for different reasons. The photos that I selected for the slideshow spoke to me in various ways, some with the beautiful lighting, some by the interesting composition, while others it is the emotion that is expressed or the perfectly imperfect moment that was captured. Please take a few minutes to watch and enjoy.
I am so excited to roll out a few new ideas this year and to see what 2013 has in store for me.
I look forward to continuing our photographic journey together. :)
